What the programme involves
Practices that reduce emissions on a paddy farm — alternate wetting and drying instead of continuous flooding, direct seeding where it suits the field, and managing residue without burning. These are verified against satellite and field records, and the resulting credits are sold to companies that pay for measured reductions.
The honest print
The money is slow. From enrolment to first payment is typically 18 to 30 months, because verification and credit issuance take that long everywhere in the world. Anyone promising quick carbon money is selling something else.
The money is modest per acre. Think of it as a bonus on top of a water saving that already pays for itself — not a new crop.
Land records matter. Credits attach to the land and the practice. Where land is farmed on verbal theka, the paperwork needs care before anything is promised. We will tell you plainly what is possible on your documents.
